I think it's completely fair to take my opinion less seriously if I didn't stay for an entire show. I also think it's completely fair for me to have the opinion and to leave.
If I'm reviewing a show, of course I stay for the whole thing. That's a different situation.
But for shows I'm not reviewing, I feel okay and even grateful to leave. Life is short, and some shows are really, really bad.
Also, I don't see walking out as being disrespectful of the actors. For some shows I've seen, I'm sure the actors wish they could join us.
Sometimes my friends and I discuss whether to stay or go. Sometimes one or two of us might leave and one or two of us stay. And sometimes, we're all putting on our coats to leave the second the first act ends. |
