In 1960 for Oscar Hammestein II ALL Broadway theatres dimmed their lights completely, and traffic was stopped in all directions in Times Square for one full minute. Many hotels and restaurants also dimmed their lights as well. Now THAT is the way these tributes should be done for all of our theatre greats. Each great theatre artist deserves the same "All "Er Nothin'" tribute. New York thrives off of the theatre, hotels thrive off of the theatre, restaurants thrive off of the theatre. The Broadway League needs to get its act together. The Shuberts, Nederlanders, and other owners should consider it an HONOR to honor the great Broadway artists. Shame on Broadway and New York for doing anything less!
