Agreed on the general miscasting (I’ve always felt particular empathy for Jose Carreras). Of the opera singers, I think mezzo Tatiana Troyanos was the most vocally and dramatically effective. She was always a charismatic singer/actress onstage and on recordings.
Early in her career, she played a nun in the original Broadway production of “The Sound of Music.” |
