Over the years on this board we've often spoken about the ages of characters becoming more mutable in revivals, in a good way. Jack Klugman was 37 when he created Herbie. Burstein is 60. A great work of art like Gypsy requires only smart casting, not a rigid adherence to priors.
Burstein seems perfection in this iteration. |
