Americans, I'm afraid - and I speak as someone who has a slight Lancashire accent, and who has lived on both sides of the Atlantic - can be incredibly lazy when it comes to paying attention and really *listening* to accents that are not immediately familiar.
There are some UK accents that, yes, are legitimately difficult for people not from the local area to decipher. None of them are found in north-west England. |
