Fun to remember. I didn't grow up in New York, but my grandparents started taking me to local shows and tours when I was a kid (early 80's). They were always clipping newspaper and magazine articles for me, and when I got a little older I started reading the New York Times Theatre section. I still remember reading magazine reviews (Time, Newsweek) for the Sondheim at Carnegie Hall concert and the odd criticiem that Glenn Close sang Send in the Clowns "as if anesthesized". I hardly think that song calls for an lively animated interpretation. lol.

Tony Awards broadcasts. I remember one year James Naughton and Patti LuPone presented and the announcer said the he was starring in City of Angeles in Los Angeles. And poof, my family booked a road trip and off we went!
