The money split between TDF the organization and the productions has always been a little fuzzy. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe TDF always includes what you’re calling the “service fee” in the listed price and then adds on the $4 per order at the end. So I don’t think the “service fee” is a junk fee more than, say, a restaurant that includes the cost of electricity in its menu listings. I agree TDF price increases have outpaced inflation for years, though.

It’s funny that Ticketmaster has begun touting “all-in pricing” that includes all the fees when they likely only do that because of the New York law that passed a couple years back. Last time I checked, private-equity-backed todaytix was still ignoring the law and hiding fees until late in the purchasing process.
