| That's something that's been said about some people who are generally considered to have been great directors. I don't say that to defend her. I haven't seen much of her work. It's just true that lots of great directors have had detractors, including among people who worked with them. Certainly people have said that Hal Prince's greatest talent was choosing the right shows to direct and choosing the right people to work with on those shows (except for the times he didn't). No matter how important how other things are, if a director doesn't do things, it doesn't matter what else the director does well. |
