Maybe I'm being cynical, but I don't think ''Wicked'' would add that subtitle of ''Part One.'' I doubt they want folks to know this is only half of the story.
As for a precedent, it's not the same, but the original ''Superman'' (1978) and its sequel began principal shooting both on March 28, 1977. For reasons too involved to get into here, the producers had a falling out with the original director, Richard Donner. After months of shooting (and even though Donner had shot 75% of the sequel), the producers replaced Donner with Richard Lester, who wound up taking over directing the sequel (and reshooting parts of it). |
