| I have to admit I’m ashamed of myself for spending $247 for each of two tickets in the fourth row of the front mezz just off the aisle for a Wednesday matinee preview. I understand that the Othello producers want to turn a profit and that star salaries are expensive, but I wish producers in general would be mindful of the effect prices like this have on the industry. Most folks I know have a theater budget, and even if it’s a generous one, if they’re spending $1250 on a pair of orchestra seats to Othello, there are maybe four or five other shows they’re not seeing that they might have seen otherwise. |
