I don’t think Liza would have needed the choreography “tuned down.” In her prime, Liza could easily have handled the original Fosse choreography in Sweet Charity.

For prime examples of her excelling at Fosse’s choreography we have the film version of Cabaret, the television special Liza with a Z (filmed live), and the Broadway production of Chicago, when she famously went on for Gwen Verdon with a very short rehearsal period. In the 1970’s in particular, Liza would have dazzled us as Charity.

Later, early 1990’s (around the time of her 3 Weeks at Radio City engagement), she would have been a FANTASTIC Rose in Gypsy.

Speaking of 3 Weeks at Radio City, I remember Liza did a wonderful Fosse tribute in that show. It was choreographed by Susan Stroman. And she was fabulous, backed by her “demon divas.”
