I saw it, and remember how Love Boat-ish it felt even then. What's worth noting about age and "second chances at love": it would have to be called Sixty Carats today to have teeth and impact. The idea of a 40-year-old woman and a man in his 20s causing a stir is beyond silly. It briefly became a community theatre staple (I saw a production in Peoria, IL). Julie Harris enhanced the stakes, because she was fundamentally a shapeshifting character actor. She was gorgeously attired and groomed, but underneath was that eccentricity - Eleanor Vance in The Haunting springs to mind immediately - which brought needed quirky charm. When you see the piece with a television star, it's twice as bland.
