I'm going to offer a more enthusiastic appraisal of the town of Stratford, which I have always found absolutely gorgeous. Its situation on the Avon River and the charming Southern Ontario architecture of the homes makes it a lovely town to stroll around and relax. If you can't get a reservation at a restaurant- it's true they tend to be jam-packed before shows- there are scads of picnic tables along the river where you can sit in the shade of the trees and protect your picnic lunch from the swans that roam the river bank all summer.
