I disagree. I found Brooks' performance on stage lacking depth and subtlety. I thought she was the weak link in the ensemble on stage.
After seeing Danielle Deadwyler's performance in the film "Till," I think she's ideal casting for the film and will bring the gravitas Brooks lacked. I predict Deadwyler will earn a Best Supporting Actress nomination this year at the Oscars (and maybe even win), awarding her performance as well as making up for the past snub of her performance in "Till."
