The fact that they are specifically wording this as being developed “for the stage,” and not “for Broadway” or “for the West End” makes me think they might be going the route of some of their other theatrical titles - develop in a renowned regional house with the goal of amateur & school licensing.

Of course, that was the original plan for “Newsies” and we all know how that turned out.

But also - “Hunchback of Notre Dame,” “Bedknobs and Broomsticks,” “Freaky Friday,” and “High School Musical” have all also been developed for the stage by Disney Theatrical, without amounting to a Broadway production. “Hercules” is finally looking like it might make a Broadway move before the end of the decade.
