| I wonder if this will be a more traditional "color blind" cast (where the races of the actors themselves are not a part of the storytelling), or if blackness will be part of the rethinking of the show as per the Audra Gypsy. Because technically, if the race of the characters match the race of the actors, Rooster (Hannigan's brother) should also be black. And then if Rooster and Lily are supposed to be Annie's parents, Lily and Annie should be black too. Which gives us the stereotypes of the black hoodlum (Rooster) and of the white savior (Warbucks, unless he isn't played by a white actor). Could get complicated. |
