Then the jester replies "I know, I'm the narrator!" which gets a good laugh.
That despite the fact that, as written, the MINSTREL is the narrator. Not the Jester. I still don't understand why they axed the Minstrel. I don't think these characters are interchangeable, even if this isn't quite Sondheim lol.
