That's interesting, because the King seems very much alive and capable of ruling, especially as he regains his voice in the finale.

I think we're meant to think that post-finale, with the King regaining his voice and the Queen losing hers, that the traditional power structure will be restored in the Kingdom. The Queen will no longer be dominating the Court, her husband, her son, and certainly not her new daughter-in-law.

If that's the case, Dauntless won't be ruling until some time in the future when the King dies.
