New York, NY -- (August 5, 2024) Bella Vita Entertainment announced today the cast and creative team for the Off-Broadway premiere of The Witness Room, an explosive new play by Pedro Antonio Garcia, directed by Will Blum. Performances will begin Monday, September 16, 2024 at 7pm, for a limited three-week engagement through October 6, 2024, at AMT Theater (354 West 45th Street – between 8th & 9th Aves). Opening is Saturday evening, September 21, 2024, at 7:00pm.

This life and death drama detonates within the confines of a witness room in Manhattan Criminal Court as four hardened New York City police officers, led by a calculating district attorney, battle each other over charges of corruption, racism, morality, loyalties, and the blue wall of silence.

The Witness Room had its world premiere at the Whitefire Theatre in Los Angeles in March 2024 where it enjoyed an extended sold-out engagement.

The cast for The Witness Room is Dave Baez ("Greenleaf, Critical Thinking), Moe Irvin ("Grey's Anatomy," "Star Wars: Ahsoka"), JD Mollison (Octet, Three Houses), Tricia Small (The Last Five Years – LA Premiere, High Fidelity – Chicago premiere), and Jason SweetTooth Williams (Be More Chill, Freaky Friday).

The creative team is Lindsay Jones (-sound design), Daniel Allen (set design), Aiden Bezark (lighting design), and Gina Ruiz (costume design_). The production stage manager is Emily Kluger. The assistant stage manager is Eitan Markowitz. Associate Producer is Lanelle Scott.

The Witness Room will play the following performance schedule: Monday at 7pm, Wednesday at 7pm, Thursday & Friday at 7pm, Saturday at 2pm & 7pm and Sunday at 3pm.

BIOS

Pedro Antonio Garcia (Playwright) has been a playwright for over 25 years, first with the Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre, then as a cofounder of The Dramatic Question Theatre Company in NYC (www.theDQT.org). His play Firehouse ran to critical acclaim in Los Angeles at the Whitefire Theatre. His other plays – Handball, KorVets, The Salsa Chronicles – ran successfully in New York and LA. His new play, The Witness Room, ran to critical acclaim at the Whitefire as well. Pedro has written for TV and for the screen. He is a member of Bobby Moresco's Writers/Actors Gym. Pedro is also a civil rights/criminal defense attorney.

Will Blum (Director) is thrilled to be making his NYC Directing Debut with The Witness Room. Studied Theatre and Directing at The Boston Conservatory, and the Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards in Pontedera, Italy. Will made his Broadway debut as an actor at 23, and has spent the last 17 years performing, directing, and serving as an acting coach in NYC and London. Most recently performing on Broadway in the Tony nominated musical, Beetlejuice. Other Broadway credits include playing Dewey Finn in School of Rock, Elder Cunningham in The Book of Mormon, Roger in Grease, as well as acting as the Standby for Michael Urie in the Tony nominated revival of Harvey Fierstein's Torch Song. In London, he directed the UK premiere of Frank Wildhorn's Bonnie & Clyde, as well as assisting Lonny Price on his productions of Carousel for the English National Opera and Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill starring Audra McDonald.

Dave Baez (TJ Moretti) originally from New Bedford, Massachusetts, Dave has distinguished himself in theater, television and film, with standout roles in Oprah Winfrey's "Greenleaf," John Leguizamo's directed "Critical Thinking" and the heartfelt indie, Mothers and Daughters. His resume is further enhanced by significant recurring roles in shows such as Showtime's "Dexter," NBC's "Miss Match" and" Las Vegas." Baez's theater roots run deep, with numerous off-Broadway productions under his belt, showcasing his foundational skills that have undeniably shaped his screen presence. His journey from the stage to screen exemplifies a versatile actor committed to exploring diverse characters and narratives. Dave would like to express his heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in bringing The Witness Room to life.

Moe Irvin (Terrance Sampson) is a lover of people and the arts. He is a lifetime member of the Actors Studio and of his many guest star credits, he is best known for his role as Nurse Tyler in the original cast of "Grey's Anatomy." Most recently, his guest star credits include recurring roles on "FBI International," recurring role on FOX's "911," "Snowfall" and "THEM: Covenant." He can also be seen guest starring in Amazon Studios' "Hunters" and is currently recurring as Senator Mawood in ""Star Wars: Ahsoka"". He has worked in nearly 200 national and regional commercials including spokesperson roles for Mercury Insurance, Duke Health Insurance, ESPN, and Marcus by Goldman Sachs. His theater credits include as Ralph D. in Motherfucker with the Hat and as Satan in Last Days of Judas Iscariot by Stephen Adly Gurigis, among others. And most recently, Mercury by Steve Yockey at The Road Theater in L.A. He is a writer and director of three short films and father of three beautiful children. He is grateful to bring this wonderful production to life.

Jason SweetTooth Williams (Kevin Brennan) is an actor and writer. He was seen on Broadway in the original cast of Be More Chill, and originated roles regionally and Off Broadway in Disney's FREAKY FRIDAY (Signature Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse), Benny and Joon (The Old Globe), Bloodsong of Love (Ars Nova), The Untitled Unauthorized Hunter S Thompson Musical (La Jolla Playhouse), and most recently Gun & Powder at Paper Mill Playhouse. He also played opposite Jackie Hoffman as Prince Dauntless in Transport Group's revival of Once Upon a Mattress and was seen as a Melrose Brother in Jelly's Last Jam for Long Wharf Theatre. As a writer, Jason co-wrote Broadway Bounty Hunter which starred the great Annie Golden and premiered Off-Broadway at Greenwich House Theater. As a screen actor, Jason appeared opposite Jared Leto in WeCrashed for AppleTv+ and was seen on episodes of "BULL," "FBI," "Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," " American Horror Stories," and the upcoming feature film Zoo.

AMT Theater is the brainchild of Producer Al Tapper ("Broadway: The Golden Age") and Artistic Director Tony Sportiello. The goal is to create a regional theater right in the heart of Manhattan's theater district, creating new shows and new musicals, doing children's theater, cabaret, festivals, readings and more.
