Lenya and Gilford were outstanding in the original. Lena's "What Would You do?" did not end with a musical button, but the underscoring continued and faded out with her exit. It was a very dramatic moment. Meskite was also very moving, as was Married, especially the 2nd act reprise. The entire production was a mind-blowing staging, especially the finale with all the characters speaking their key lines and then the mirror facing the audience. Brilliant theatre by Hal Prince, Fred Ebb, John Kander, and Joe Masteroff. I have seen many revivals, and they have never equaled the power of the original production.
