"Garbage" is a song by Sheldon Harnick, which Bea Arthur sang in the 1955 off-off-Broadway musical Ben Bagley's Shoestring Revue. Chita Rivera also performed it on Broadway in Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life.
Jerry Herman wrote a different song titled "Garbage" for his musical, Dear World. "Garbage" was sung in that show by Angela Lansbury, Jane Connell, Milo O'Shea, and others. Amusingly, Jane Connell was one of Bea Arthur's co-stars in Ben Bagley's Shoestring Revue. However, as far as I know, Connell never performed the Harnick "Garbage". |
