Henry Brandon had quite career as a character actor in a number of memorable films that I saw but never realized they were played by the same person. He was great as a British secret agent in Edge of Darkness, helping Errol Flynn and Ann Sheridan defeat the Nazis, and very menacing in The Searchers as Comanche Chief Scar, who kidnaps Lana Wood (before growing up to be Natalie Wood), gets hunted by John Wayne, and is eventually killed by Jeffrey Hunter.
I even remember Brandon as Capt. Laska, in the truly awful Buck Rogers serial that starred Buster Crabbe in a follow-up to the very great Flash Gordon serials.
BTW, Brandon was also a stage actor with 4 Broadway credits. |
