I'm a long-time subscriber(20 years)/then member but post-pandemic, I stopped going regularly due to how awful the shows were. And my favorite NYC event, Shakespeare in the Park, is beyond atrocious. They've stopped hiring quality directors and actors who can speak verse. Why are actors like seasoned Shakespeareans like Liev Schrieber, Jay O. Sanders, Michael Stuhlbarg, Hamish Linklater, Peter Francis James, etc. and their ilk no longer cast? The Richard III was shockingly awful but the Hamlet, with the exception of John Douglas Thompson, was worse.
