A musical about Biles could include gymnastics AND dance. ''Water for Elephants'' currently incorporates acrobatics and dance, but its lead character, Jacob, isn't central to them. I imagine re-creating Biles' moves would be especially physically taxing. (And I'd call the show: ''Love, Simone.'')
Speaking of star gymnasts, could anyone else remember a 1985 flop movie called ''Gymkata''? It tried to turn Kurt Thomas into a martial-arts action hero.
Thomas got a Razzie nomination for it. The most hilarious scene is where he's fighting off the bad guys, while straddling a not-so-disguised pommel horse. |
