The Busch Auntie Mame was back in 2004. He had done a highly successful staged reading in which Peggy Cass recreated her stage/screen role of Agnes Gooch. It was one of her final appearances anywhere and the crowd went wild for her!
Unfortunately, a reading and a fully staged production are quite different. The Ogunquit audience wasn’t familiar with Busch and didn’t quite know what to make of his portrayal. |
