Interesting though I find the subject of gay innuendo and content in pre-Code films, I couldn't see what the subject, at least as presented in the initial post, had to do with the focus of this board. I think the subject could be presented in a way that would have to do with the focus of this board, if there were relevant comparisons to theatre, but it wasn't. It didn't seem to me that the fact that The Gay Divorcee is very freely adapted from a stage musical (not mentioned in the poast) had anything significant to do with the content of the post.
Nor was anything written about the costume designer character in The Broadway Melody that would have meaningfully made the post seem theatre-related. |
