Keeping our eye on the target, it is also worth noting that after JCM's departure, the revenue went down and the show started to get quite dire, certainly by the time of the Ali MacGraw fiasco that, as I recall, resulted in the return of JCM to try to get things back on track so it could close with some dignity (so to speak). I don't think there are many examples of legitimate present-tense "stars" eager to replace the stars who are inextricably tied to the material (presently represented on this page by both Escola and Redmayne).

Stunt casting, as we use the term, doesn't usually interest true box office magnets. I promise you the going rate for stunt casting is never in a range that would be of interest to big stars.

And it is also worth noting that what Cole is doing can pretty quickly turn to dreck in lesser hands.
