90% attendance doesn't mean much. The stats that are most important are the average ticket price and the weekly gross. For The Notebook those figures for last week were $89.34 and $672,825 respectively, which are not good. I don't know this show's weekly running costs, but most likely it is either losing money or just breaking even.
I like the show a lot. I saw it originally at Chicago Shakespeare a couple of years ago and more recently on 6/26/2024 at the Schoenfeld. IMO it's a beautifully done love story with sincere performances, a touching libretto, and a fine score. Sadly, it just hasn't done very well at the box office. |
