Like they were never published or licensed and the orchestral parts/score were lost or not retained by the creators. I am pretty sure that "Drat! the Cat!" is one of those. Another one was "Lolita, My Love" with a score by John Barry. I think that when the studio recording was made with Susan Egan the orchestrations were recreated/reconstructed from that pirate recording of the original cast. The orchestrations were by Hershy Kay. Now, it was said that Herbert Grossman, the original music director, kept all the orchestral scores of his shows. He died in 2010 and his daughter sadly died by her own hand several years later and his house in Babylon NY was abandoned. If he kept his scores they would include "Drat! the Cat!" and "Lolita, my Love" but no idea what happened to the house or its contents. Marlo Manners (Lady Barrington) |
