So was the recent Hello, Dolly! and the producers wisely built in a break for their over the title star. The incoming Sunset Boulevard will presumably repeat the London schedule for their over the title star and the currently running Cabaret gives each of the two over the title stars a scheduled day off. I don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility that, for such a vocally taxing role, the producers would make sure their over the title star has the rest she needs to reliably be in.
Also, n.b., Patti was 59 nearing 60 when she played the role. Whether Tonya Pinkins would agree to such an assignment is one thing, but at 62 I think she's still more than capable. |
