It happened to me with opera in Zurich during the Euro Cup a few seasons back. The game was being broadcast on a giant outdoor screen on the plaza outside the opera house and people simply wouldn't go inside the theater until the football game was over. It's actually kind of exciting and if some people minded it was a very silent minority.
