KingSpeed is offering his normal cryptic, stilted logic but not necessarily cheering on the protestors (but maybe he’s enthused?), while I’m defending the notion of being radical, anti-racist, queer, and feminist (and identify with the latter three, but now that I’ve hit middle age, I’m not really radical anymore, if I ever was), but also pointed out that this sad quartet lack rigorous thought.
But if you need a bolder statement: the protest was bullshit in both content and form. Some of the information on their website is really interesting, but they’re also complaining about things that Taub has addressed in the show. For as much at they’re focused on being anti-racist - which is a good ideal we should all be striving for, and isn’t the scary idea that Fox New paints it as - they give off a big whiff of White Saviorism and are actively doing harm to Black performers, which is very much NOT an anti-racist ideal. |
