Oh, trust me, I totally get why you'd hear that from Zero specifically --if anyone would have, it'd be him.
I just couldn't hear "playgoers" more clearly.
It's not worth arguing though. What you hear is funny, and I'd believe him saying it (though I would not quite buy he could slip it in, even vaguely, without Sondheim or the recording producer and technicians hearing it and not wanting it to live on the album forever)... I even buy he'd have slipped it in to some performances on Broadway. But to me it's crystal clearly not what he says on this recording. |
