Just to be clear, I'm not saying they don't deserve $5k a week. I'm saying it's impressive they strong-armed the producers into $5k a week, which it sounds like was only achieved through collective bargaining as a full cast. They were getting $1,200 a week off-Broadway, so they producers easily could have offered them Equity minimum, which would have more than doubled their off-Broadway salary, since almost the entire cast is making their Broadway debut. But they took a big jump in pay for the move to Broadway and I think that's very impressive and probably not at all a common salary for unknowns with no prior credits. I'm very aware of the financial plight of actors, so just wanted to make sure the context of my post was clear before you get too scared.
