| From the outset, I couldn't figure out why this casting had everyone so excited. Marsha Mason as a dowager courtesan? I think of all the elegant ladies who might've found new flavors in the role, i.e. Felicia Rashad, hell just unemployed, Jessica Lange. And none of the other roles, save Miles's Charlotte, seemed to be cast with the sensibilities of their characters. Yet it was considered an event. Interesting that it's been upstaged by the ravishing Titanic at Encores!. |
