Wow. What an incredible resource you are to this board, Chromeo! Appreciate all that detail.

I have to say, if you're going to reduce an original orchestration, you can't ask for better than Tunick (obviously.) I'm the first person on here to whine about reduced orchestras in revivals, but Tunick is so good at what he does -- her makes such good use of every instrument. I felt that way when hearing his reduced orchestrations for Pacific Overtures at Signature (DC) last year (I think that was 10 or 11 musicians?) and certainly that way at Merrily. Hell, a show that I don't particularly care for, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder (to twee for me) sounded wonderful with its relatively small orchestra, too. I remember not finding that score particularly compelling, but often being struck by the perfect arrangements/orchestrations throughout.
