| I was surprised to find that Gena Rowlands had only one Broadway credit: Paddy Chayefsky's ''Middle of the Night'' (1956), starring Edward G. Robinson. I'm glad this two-time Academy Award nominee got an honorary Oscar in 2016, but I wonder if she ever considered a return to Broadway. I hope TCM screens ''Opening Night,'' her 1977 movie about an alcoholic actress having a breakdown, written and directed by John Cassavetes. |
