I mostly agree with this. I’m sure my seats in the balcony affected my response, but the orchestra was too loud and out of balance with some sections overpowering others. I’ve heard all the anecdotes before (or I think I did given the difficulty hearing). And other than Ebersole and Baresse I was mostly disappointed. A decent number of folks left the balcony after intermission.
Yes, Ziemba was good, but casting top notch dancers as the older characters detracted from the point of the dance. |
