I don't know that calling someone a "chorus girl" is so awful. It's dismissive and condescending but hardly vituperative.
I didn't like her the first time she hosted and I didn't like her the second time she hosted. But I gave her some leeway since in 2022 we were still readjusting in the "post-"COVID times and then last year I was just happy there was an awards show at all. I also find her grating in interviews.
As Anita, she was marvellous. In the ensemble of HAMILTON she stood out (partly because of her dyed blond hair, perhaps). As a host she just comes off like she thinks she's the cutest, cleverest thing in the world and she brandishes her sass like a weapon: "I dare you to judge me, old white straight men! This ain't your party anymore, loser!" |
