When I interviewed Jim Walton last fall for Talkin' Broadway, he said: ''I'd love to see ['Merrily'] win the Tony for Best Musical Revival.'' So he got his wish!

I'm also happy I got to include quotes from Jim and Jonathan raving about each other. Talk about a mutual admiration society!

Jim also got to present a Special Citation from the New York Drama Critics Circle, headed by Adam Feldman, to ''Merrily'' at 54 Below.

I only wish Sondheim and Furth were still around to bask in the glow of this revival's acclaim and box office. But I'd like to think somehow they know.

Happily, for Jim and the OGs, they must feel so vindicated and exhilarated that a show they did over 40 years ago is still beloved. Finally, ''It's a Hit!''
