I was moved by Jonathan Groff’s speech, and by all the performances, even the ones that tried to jam so much in.
The ILLINOISE section moved me as it had in the theatre. The STEREOPHONIC section could not represent its two-fold nature, becsuse we couldn’t watch the onstage and the offstage components simultaneously, as we do when we’re in the theatre.
The young men in OUTSIDERS were so charismatic! I guess the biggest surprise (for me, because I hadn’t seen the show) was how magnetic Lindsay Mendez was in MERRILY. Wow. I remembered how stunning she was in CAROUSEL, but here she seems to redefine stage chemistry. I had thought I’d seen plenty of Merrily’s, but now I gotta get there. |
