Wow! My partner and I are paupers compared to you and yours. However, we live in the Chicago suburbs, where the cost of living is much lower. Theatre in our area is still quite affordable, although a shocking number of groups have gone under, mostly as a result of the pandemic.
We each own our own home, although my partner is still paying off his mortgage. He operates his business out of his home in a western suburb. My home is paid off and I'm just a mile north of the Edison Park area of Chicago in the village of Morton Grove. I do co-own a second much nicer house in central Illinois with my younger sister and brother. I've been retired since 2018 and live modestly off my 401K, which does well with its investments. |
