Another View of "Titanic"

Just got back from seeing the Sunday Matinee. Boy what a stiff!

After a strong driving series of opening numbers rousing performed, we are led thorough a series of little charm songs, with the Third Class passengers and the Social climbing second class Passenger.

But there no through line no movement no urgency no nothing.

The Captain is like "Lets go faster" or 'Let's take the Northern Route" without really telling us why that matters.

And Chris Cooper who has done better work just stands there like a store dummy.

The second act is a lot of running around but again no panic no sense of "we're in trouble". It's not really even clear that the third class passengers are locked in below until the stoker comes and explains it.

"The Blame" number just fell flat with the three just circling and circling and never connecting.

And the show is almost saved by Chin Zein and Judy Kahn and their haunting and powerful love song.

Went in expecting a lot and was disappointed. Was it just me?
