There's also a general belief that the use of body mikes allows actors to not only speak more naturally but that they no longer have to face front to be heard and understood. And although this is true, it doesn't mean that seeing an actor's back for a lot of the performance is an effective idea. Faces and eyes are a huge part of communication. And although in many situations "natural speech" makes sense in context, theatre is still a heightened artform, and often you really do want that heightened size/scale in vocal delivery.

So yeah.
