| At the 2012 Tony Awards, Neil Patrick Harris hosted and did a closing number, ''If I Had Time,'' by David Javerbaum and Adam Schlesinger. Harris recapped the evening's events, so Javerbaum must've written during the show or adjusted his lyrics to fit. It had a terrific ending and won an Emmy. On Sunday, DeBose is not only performing and producing the opening, but she's co-choreographing it with longtime collaborator Julius Anthony Rubio. I doubt anyone will ever top Harris' Tony opener in 2013, ''Bigger!,'' written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Tom Kitt. And that won them an Emmy, too. |
