As nostalgic as it may be to think that, I doubt Cohen and Parks would be able to re-create that now. Award shows change to suit the times and tastes.

I imagine one reason the Tonys are no longer in Broadway houses is because they can't accommodate all the people who want to attend (i.e., co-producers, etc.).

Also, back in the old days, there were only a few channels. Nowadays, the Tonys have to compete with a ton of networks, streaming services, websites, etc.

Whatever its faults, I think the Tonys are still the classiest awards around, and I find the winners' acceptance speeches generally more heartfelt and articulate.
