I'd also recommend the lobby of CitizenM on 50th street between 8th and Broadway (across from the Gershwin). I stay there every trip and it has very reliable internet in the lobby area with plenty of seating spaces. I see people working in there all the time. I assume the WIFI is accessible for non-guests but I cannot guarantee it.
