Part of me is excited about the prospect of a new Sondheim revue, and part of me wonders if we NEED another Sondheim revue. There's ''Side by Side by Sondheim,'' ''A Stephen Sondheim Evening,'' ''Marry Me a Little,'' ''Putting It Together,'' ''Sondheim on Sondheim,'' ''Old Friends'' and now ''Being Alive.''
I hope they find some fun ways to approach the songs; maybe mashup unlikely tunes, and/or showcase Sondheim's lesser-known songs. Vary it a little. |
