| I would also say that Stereophonic has a lot of music, but it's a play, not a musical. With a musical, a farther-back, big-picture view may be the best one, but I don't think that's true here. There is very little physical action, it's just people talking (and singing and playing). Although I've certainly seen plays from the last row of the mezzanine, in general, for a play, I think sitting closer is better. DistantDrumming, your three definites (Appropriate, Merrily, Stereophonic) are likely to win for Play Revival, Musical Revival, Play, Director in both categories, several acting categories, and tech awards as well. Appropriate and Merrily are also closing shortly. Merrily and Stereophonic are likely to be the talk of the Tonys (along with whatever wins Best Musical). They will be much tougher tickets after the Tonys than now, and they were at 100% and 99.5% capacity already the past couple of weeks. When you say that you want to wait until the last minute, is that because you want to wait until premium tickets get converted to non-premium pricing (ie, you are willing to pay "regular" prices for prime orchestra seats), or is it something else? That could be tricky immediately after June 16, although it could well work, particularly if you are going on weekdays, going solo, willing to take tickets at cancellation line prices, etc, etc that you already know. If you're looking for a price that's less than non-premium orchestra, I don't think you're going to see lower prices than for those two shows after the Tonys than you're seeing now. I don't know how picky you are about seating, but Appropriate is regularly at TKTS at 50% off, so I think it's fairly safe to hold off on Appropriate. When exactly are you arriving? Mother Play is scheduled to close June 16 and Enemy of the People on June 23. As for your fourth show, I haven't seen most of them, but I saw Illinoise, and I agree that all three things you said about it are good reasons to see the show. I don't think you'll be sorry you saw it. |
