As for Ben Platt, i thought he was amazing in DEH...he has an incredible instrument and he knows how to use it.
I think he's gotten better since leaving DEH - I think he was vocally in trouble during that run. Maybe I'm wrong about what I was seeing and hearing, but I'm surprised he got through that show with his vocal instrument intact. All I know is that my neck and shoulders would get very tight and sore in sympathy watching him try to force out the high notes in "Window" with those weird facial contortions. I was convinced he was trying to sing things he didn't know how to approach correctly. But in other things I've heard him do since then, the odd vocal/physical mannerisms seem to have lessened. |
